South India is a diverse part of Dravidian India consisting of Tamil Nadu in the far south (West), Kerala in the far South(East), Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh above Kerala and Tamil Nadu respectively. These four states have their own culture, their own language (not just dialect, but languages), all stemming from ancient spin-offs of Sanskrit, and each of the languages here has its own script.
Talking about food, Rice is the most prominent food here. There are several forms of rice foods, not just rice - rice-flour based pancakes and other foods are designed to go perfectly with the hundreds of curry recipe dishes which sustains what could very well be a good 10 percent of the world's population.
